Pittsburgh Steelers - 2006 Preseason Analysis
The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely going to be seen as everybody’s team to beat. Last year’s Super Bowl Winners, they are definitely on the radar for being another great team this year.

Head Coach Bill Cowher has proven he is a winner and can build teams of winners. He is the longest-tenured head coach and is about to begin his 14th season in the NFL.

The Steelers will be once again led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, if he is well. There is still a buzz about what condition he will be in at the start of the season because of a off-season motorcycle accident. He is likely going to be ready to go however, especially with the initial prognosis after the accident.

Veteran wide receiver Hines Ward should have an even better statistical year if Big Ben is ready. Hines Ward deserves it and is always going to be looked at as a great NFL player.

Defensively, veteran line backer Joey Porter and safety Troy Polamalu will lead the pack. Rookie defensive end Lee Vickers (out of North Alabama) will blossom as a pass rusher, so be on the lookout for him.

Running back Duce Staley will struggle with the running load expected of him and likely fail to perform to his maximum potential. However, overall this is again the team to beat! They are strong, tough, and never give up. Those three things alone are the reason they won the Super Bowl last year and the reason they will be a good team this year.
