Top 100 NFL Fantasy Players According to Our Statistics ($9.95)New York Jets - 2006 Preseason Analysis Led by quarterback Chad Pennington, who missed most of last year with a rotator cuff injury, the Jets are hoping he can return to his pre-injury form and lead them to victory after victory. If Pennington is back in top shape, the team will benefit greatly from his return. However, he is likely going to be taking it easy for the first part of the season so he can ease back into the sport nicely. Veteran running back Curtis Martin, who turned 33 this year, is a little too old to start at RB, and the Jets have not found anybody to replace him as of yet. He failed to reach 1,000 yards last season, for the first time in his career, which is an indication that he should be ready to retire soon. After all, the body can only do so much as it ages and pro football is an incredibly physical sport. The New York Jets draft choices of Nick Mangold from Ohio State and Tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson from Virginia were beneficial to the team in many ways. They should start immediately and provide a lot of protection for the aging Martin and injury-prone Pennington. If Pennington can hang on and be strong, the New York Jets should have a good and steady year ahead of them.
