Kansas City Chiefs - 2006 Preseason Analysis

The Kansas City Chiefs are excited about new coach Herm Edwards, from the Jets. Herm Edwards is expected to bring the passion back for the players that play the game. Since the Kansas City Chiefs have had several difficult seasons, they are looking for someone like Herm Edwards to give them the encouragement and confidence they need to win.

The offense is led by veteran quarterback Trent Green, veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez, and veteran running back Priest Holmes. The three of these players will once again bring the Chiefs’ offense to the table. The Offense will look about the same as last years group, which was not too bad in any case.

Via the NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Tamba Hali, a defensive end. He should play out to be a much needed pass rusher on the defensive side of things. With Kansas City needing a better defense, Hali is a welcomed player.

Also, via the free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs acquired Patrick Surtain, a corner back from the Dolphins. This was a good move because of the veteran leadership needed for the young guys. Not only is Surtain talented, but he will also help the younger players learn the grooves of the game.

As far as their special teams go, they don’t make guys any better than KR Dante Hall. So, there is nothing to be complaining about in that area

The big hope for the Kansas City Chiefs is that they will have a winning record. They will be trying to pull things together this year, and may call this year another rebuilding year when all is said and done.
