Week 5 Picks (3-0-1 Record)Cleveland Browns +8 over Carolina Panthers (1.5 Units) - In the words of one of our handicappers. The "Panthers suck as a favorite". It is easy to say that because they are ranked 23rd in the league in offense. They are dispicable. Their two wins were by an average margin of 2.5 points. They are now playing against this loser Browns team that will be looking to play hard before their bye. The Browns came back from that huge deficit on the road to beat Oakland and have proven they can backdoor beat any spread. With you getting more than a TD, look to bet the Browns today. Tampa Bay Buccaneers +6.5 over New Orleans Saints (1.5 Units) - We do not believe the New Orleans Saints are for reals. Therefore, we do not believe they deserve to be giving up 6.5 points on the spread. Besides, the Bucs are off a bye. We know the Bucs have no offense and that their defense is really average this year but aside from the victory against the Falcons, the Saints have not done much. They won two games on the road against pretty mediocre teams. They lost a close one against Carolina. This is their second home game and we do not expect the electricity that they got in the Falcons game. So no easy victory here. Tennessee Titans +18 over Indianapolis Colts (1.5 Units) - Stop blinking. Stop checking your eyes. This really is an 18 point spread. We are taking the huge number because they the Titans fall into a system like our free pick today. 0-4 team playing a division rival. But 18 points is a lot. In the NFL, you always have to bet on teams that are double digit dogs. If you do that, you will be making money. The Colts have not been blowing teams out like you would expect them to. They survived against the Jets last week. Their wins have been by 3, 5, 7, 19. If they can only beat the Texans by 19, I am sure most of you are saying they can beat the Titans by the same. But having coming off an embarrasing loss to Dallas, we expect the Titans to really put all they got onto the field. The Colts are heading into a bye next week and we do not expect them to put everything they got into the game considering the level of their opponent is really low. Why should they win by 20 heading into a bye? Arizona Cardinals +3.5 over Kansas City Chiefs (1.5 Units) - Not an easy play to make. I mean the Chiefs were winners last week 41-0. The Cardinals were losers each of the past 3 weeks. But the Cardinals have not been so bad at home. They beat the Niners by 7 and lost to the Rams by only 2 points. The Chiefs are a good defensive team this year but lacking the offense. The Cardinals have a great passing game and they will look to open the field at home. Considering the Chiefs are coming off a NFC Western opponent blowout that was much needed off of their bye, we see a letdown here today as the Cardinals come back to life at home. Detroit Lions +6.5 over Minnesota Vikings (FREE PICK - 1.0 Units) - One system that has worked specifically well over the last 20 years is to bet on teams that started the season 0-4 and go up against division rivals. For the rest of the year. The Vikings have not impressed me this season. Their two wins were by a measly 3 points each. Their two losses were by 3 and 5 points respectively. Not really impressive at all. All their games were close. Then you have a Lions team that is 0-4 but getting almost a touchdown here against a rival. Take it as the free pick. Baseball Pick - October 8, 2006St. Louis Cardinals over San Diego Padres (1.0 Units) - This is the game the Cardinals get it done. The Padres survived on Saturday but they will have to face Carpenter on Sunday. With the Padres bats being highly suspect, Carpenter will show why he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. |
