Top 100 NFL Fantasy Players According to Our Statistics ($9.95)Wisconsin Badgers Vs Tennessee Volunteers1/1/08 The first game of 2008 will take at the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida as the Wisconsin Badgers and the Tennessee Volunteers hook up for an early morning affair. The game is scheduled for 11:00 Eastern and promises to be a great game to watch (and bet on). Oddsmakers have made the Tennessee Volunteers an opening 3-point favorite, but betting action has pushed the line down to its current state of Tennessee –1.5 (strangely with all the action going on the Tennessee side). The Wisconsin Badgers come into this game confident in their running game. They average 201.5 yards on the ground, led by their stud running back P.J. Hill. The Badgers are 9-3 on the season, but a pathetic 4-7 against the number. They are coming off a road win at Minnesota by the score of 41-34 (but failing to cover the 13.5 point road favorite spread). Away from home, they are 2-3 straight up, but have yet to cash against the spread. The author, though, believes that the Badgers will change this fact this New Year’s. They actually matchup well with the Volunteers, and combined with their better pass defense, they should win this game straight up. The Tennessee Volunteers come into this game off a tough game in the SEC Championship game against the LSU Tigers, by the score of 21-14 (although they lost, they managed to push the spread of Tennessee +7). The Volunteers are 9-4 on the season and 8-4-1 against the spread. Away from home, they are 2-3 in both the straight up and against the spread ledger. Although the Volunteers played in the tough SEC conference, the author does not really see the Volunteers winning this game. Bowl games are about matchups, and the Volunteers match up horribly with the Badgers. Game prediction: 38-27 Wisconsin. |
