Top 100 NFL Fantasy Players According to Our Statistics ($9.95)University of Connecticut Huskies vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons12/29/07 The Huskies of the University of Connecticut take on the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, to be held in Charlotte North Carolina this Saturday, December 28, 2007. Oddsmakers have made the Demon Deacons an opening 3-point favorite, with the line dropping to 2 points at the time of writing. UConn has had an amazing year this season. They are 9-3 straight up and 7-3 against the spread and have been a solid team all season long. On the road, they are 2-3 straight up and 2-2 against the spread. Led by quarterback Tyler Lorenzen, the Huskies have been a big surprise in the Big East conference, in fact almost capturing the title from the West Virginia Mountaineers. In their matchup against Wake Forest, the author believes that the Huskies will fare well against their opposition. They have a greater average rushing yard advantage and their average pass defense is overall better than the Deacons (both angles that bode well in bowl season). Wake Forest comes into this matchup streaking, winning 8 of their last 10 games and covering 7 in the set. On the season, they are 8-4 both straight up and against the spread, while going 3-3 on the road (also straight up and against the spread). Wake Forest has always been a good bet as an underdog, but as a favorite, they are not as dominant. In this matchup, as stated above, the author feels that Wake Forest is at a slight disadvantage. Although they are coming into this game on a streak, the Huskies are no slouches themselves. The author sees a good game developing where the Huskies pull away in the second half and cap off a great season with a victory. The Huskies will do enough on defense to keep their offense fresh and score points to defeat the Demon Deacons. Game prediction: 21-17 UConn. |
