Top 100 NFL Fantasy Players According to Our Statistics ($9.95)Kansas Jayhawks Vs Virginia Tech Hokies1/3/08 by Kris Lazaro The Kansas Jayhawks take on the Virginia Tech Hokies this Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 in the annual Orange Bowl that will be held at Dolphins Stadium in Miami, Florida. This will be the fourth and final BCS game before the National Championship Game this Monday. Oddsmakers made the Hokies an opening 1-point favorite, with betting action pushing the line all the way up to its current state of Hokies –3.5. At the time of writing, the total was set at 52. Kansas has been simply amazing this year. They are 11-1 straight up and 10-1 against the spread this season, and are 4-0 straight up and against the number on the road. The Jayhawks are averaging 44.3 points per game, while allowing 16 points per game. They are coming off a disappointing loss to the Missouri Tigers by the score of 36-28, while also losing the 1-point favorite spread. The author likes the Jayhawks in this spot, mainly because of their impeccable against the spread record and their great offense, behind stud quarterback Todd Reesing. Although some may argue that Kansas may be disappointed in not making the National Championship Game, the author would like to point out that Virginia Tech might be in a similar position. The Hokies finished off the season quite strong. They are coming of 5 straight wins against quality teams, while covering all 5 five of those games. Their defense was stiff, while their offense was smoking hot; most recently, they beat the Boston College Eagles in the ACC Championship game, a revenge game actually, by the score of 30-16 (they also covered the 5 point spread). Tech relies on its defense and superb special teams in providing its offense great field position. The author though does not like the Hokies in this spot. The game will be close and low scoring throughout, with the better team surfacing in the end. Take the points and the under. Game prediction: 24-17 Kansas. |
