Oddsmakers have made the Tigers an opening 3.5-point favorite, with the line at sportsbooks varying from 3, 3.5 to 4 points (all at the time of writing). The Razorbacks will have the services of star running back Darren McFadden this New Year’s, amidst speculation that he will be ineligible to play. This fact will save many Razorback faithful from heartache as the Razorbacks’ strength and main offense relies around McFadden. Arkansas has one of the country’s best running game, averaging 296.7 yards per game, and the author believes that McFadden will be the difference in the Cotton Bowl. Arkansas is 8-4 straight up and 7-4 against the number. On the road, they are 2-2 and 3-1 against the number. Most recently, the Razorbacks are coming off a great 50-48 road victory against the LSU Tigers (in which they covered and won straight up as 13 point road underdogs). Missouri comes into this game disappointed. They lost to the Oklahoma Sooners by the score of 38-17 in the Big 12 Championship game (they also failed to cover the 3 point underdog spread). On the year, the Tigers are 11-2 straight up and 9-3 against the number. On the road, they are 3-1 straight up and 4-0 against the number. The author believes that the magical season for Missouri is over. Behind their stud quarterback, Chase Daniels, Missouri must find an answer to the Razorback’s immense running game and counter with an explosive offense of their own. Although Mizzou is 8-2 straight up and 6-3 against the number in their last 10 games, they will lose this game by a large margin. The Razorbacks run away with this one and make it a comfortable straight up underdog victory. Game prediction: 38-17 Arkansas. |
