I analyzed the Cleveland Cavaliers as an inexperienced team that can predictably fail or succeed under certain circumstances in my first Betting Trends for 2005 article. It is time to similarly analyze experienced teams. Of all the Basketball teams, we project the Spurs to be the most experienced of all so we begin to analyze the Spurs.

The great thing about the Spurs is their "boring" style. The Spurs have not caught on with the public bettors because they are not fun to watch but they get the job done. They are 32-20-1 ATS (61%) this season which is a remarkable feat. In fact, over the past four seasons, they have posted ATS records better than 55% overall. This alone indicates that the Spurs are a good play regardless of the circumstance. The systems listed at NFLSystems.com has bet on the Spurs 3 times this season with a 100% record. The Spurs beat the spread by an average of 8.8 points per game, winning SU by an average of close to 20 points! The Spurs get the job done when motivating factors are for them and against their opponent. Period.

The Spurs are 17-14 ATS with double revenge dating back to the year they won their first championship. However, they are 11-5 ATS (69%) if this double revenge game comes during the regular season. Motivating factors do not mean as much during the playoffs because both teams are equally motivated. If a team is not motivated for every playoff game, then they do not belong in the playoffs.

This systems improves to 7-2 (78%) when the Spurs are on the road because of the extra 6-8 points the road team gets. In situations like these, the Spurs do not care whether they are playing at home or away, they come to play!

On Wednesday 2/23/05, the Spurs will be facing the Houston Rockets on the road with double revenge. One of those losses being a 9 point lead collapse by the Spurs in the final :34 seconds of the game. The Spurs fell into this system once already this year as 6.5 point favorites against the Seattle Supersonics and beat them by 19 points on the road. On Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets, expect a similar outcome with Spurs winning by over 15 points. As an added bonus, this will be the Spurs first game back from the All Star Break so you can expect them to be rested and ready against a Houston Rockets team that will be playing off zero days rest against a Seattle Supersonics team that will run and gun the Houston Rockets tired.

The most chalk ever given to a road team this season was the Spurs -13.5 against the New Orleans Hornets in which they beat them by 16 points. In fact, the Spurs are 5-1 this season ATS when they are favored by more than 9 points on the road so do not fear systems on the Spurs if they are large favorites.
