Nick Saban is the current coach of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He came to the NFL after many years coaching in the college football ranks. During his career, Saban has been an assistant or head coach at a number of different colleges.

His first head coaching job was at the University of Toledo. This was after stints with Syracuse University, West Virginia University, Ohio State University, Navy, and Kent State University. After a successful career at Toledo, Saban moved onto bigger things in 1995 and signed on with Michigan State University. He stayed with the Spartans until the 1999 season, and then accepted the head coaching position at Louisiana State University. In his first season at Louisiana State University Saban led the team to an 8-4 record, and a win against Georgia Tech in the Peach Bowl. In 2001 he led the team to a 10-3 record an SEC West championship.

Again in 2001, the Tigers won their bowl game by beating Illinois in the Sugar Bowl. Fans across the nation were again starting to realize that Louisiana State University was a football power. And this was all thanks to the hiring of Nick Saban. And in 2003 fans got what they had been waiting 45 years for; another National Championship. In the Sugar Bowl the Tiger managed to pull out a narrow defeat over the Oklahoma Sooners. They won the game 21-14, which locked up the National Championship. The Tigers lost only one game this season, and finished with an 11-1 record.

In December of 2004, Saban accepted the head coaching position with the Miami Dolphins. During his first year as coach, Saban led the team to a 9-7 record; just barely missing the playoffs. The Dolphins go into next season riding a six game winning streak. They are poised to make it back to the post season under the direction of second year head coach Nick Saban.
