NFL Divisional Playoffs |
Top 100 NFL Fantasy Players According to Our Statistics ($9.95)Washington Redskins Vs Seattle Seahawks1/5/08 by Kris Lazaro The NFL playoffs start this weekend with the first game set to take place in Seattle, Washington this Saturday afternoon. The Washington Redskins take on the home standing Seattle Seahawks in what looks to be an old-fashioned defensive playoff game. Oddsmakers have made the Seahawks an opening 4-point favorite, with betting action pushing the line to its current line of Seattle –3. The total opened at 40, with big bets pushing the line 1 point downward (though some shops still have the line at 39.5 at the time of writing). The Redskins come into this game confident. At one point in the season, the ‘Skins did not foresee a possible playoff-berth in their horizon, but, after achieving a 4-game winning streak at the end of the season, combined with key collapses by other teams in the NFC (most notably the Minnesota Vikings), Washington now finds itself in the playoffs. Most recently, they beat their archrival, the Dallas Cowboys by the impressive score of 27-6 (covering the 9 point home favorite spread). The Redskins are 9-7 straight up and 7-7-2 against the number. Away from home they are 4-4 straight up, but 4-3-1 against the number. For what it’s worth, the author likes the ‘Skins in this position, as this squad has been playing great football entering these playoffs. The Seahawks, on the other hand, host the wild-card Redskins. Seattle is 10-6 on the season and 9-7 against the number. At QWEST field, they are a very impressive 7-1 and 6-2 against the number. They are coming off a 44-41 loss of the Atlanta Falcons in their last game and failed to cover the slim 2-point road favorite spread (though it should be noted that the Seahawks did not need to win this game). According to the author, the Seahawk defense and rushing attack has not been the same as in years past. The loss of star running back Sean Alexander will be the difference in this game. Game prediction: 23-18 Washington. |
