Top 100 NFL Fantasy Players According to Our Statistics ($9.95)Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Pittsburgh Steelers1/5/08 by Kris Lazaro The second game of Wild-Card weekend will take place in the steel city, as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the hot Jacksonville Jaguars this Saturday night in what promises to be a memorable game for all fans. Oddsmakers opened the line at Jacksonville –1, but heavy betting action has forced sportsbooks and bookies to move the line to its current state of Jacksonville –3. The total for the game has also been bet heavily, as it opened at 37.5 and is now 40 in most sportsbooks at the time of writing. The high-flying Jacksonville Jaguars have been an amazing team this year. Considering that 2 of their 5 losses on the season came from the same team (the Indianapolis Colts), the author highly applauds the achievements of this squad. They are coming from the tough AFC South division, and the author sees this team going far in the postseason. In terms of their matchup against the Steelers, though, is another topic. Although the Jags are 10-0 for the over in their last 10 games, the author highly suspects that this playoff game will fall short of the over by a few points. Defense rules in the playoffs, and this game will be no different. Jacksonville is 11-5 on the season (both straight up and against the number). They are averaging 25.7 points, while allowing 19.0 point to the opposition. The Pittsburgh Steelers are also having a fantastic year. This squad is actually trying to avenge a recent loss to these same Jaguars in the month of December (a game in which Pittsburgh was embarrassed by the score of 29-22 Jags—a game the Steelers failed to cover the 3 point home favorite spread). The author sees a very tight game developing, where points will be at a premium. The Steelers are 10-6 on the season, but a meager 8-8 against the number. They average 24.6 points per game, while allowing 16.8 points to the opposition. The author does not recommend taking a side, but rather taking the under for a good amount. Scoring will be difficult in this game. Game prediction: 13-9 Pittsburgh. |
