Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. San Francisco 49ersby Kris Lazaro 12/23/07 The Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday in perhaps a game that the Bucs would rather not have. Tampa Bay has already captured the divisional title, and hence a playoff spot, thus this team may not entirely be too motivated for this game. Oddsmakers have made the Bucs an opening 7-point road favorite, with the betting action pushing the line down to 6 points in most shops. The amazing Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a great performance last week, in which they annihilated the Atlanta Falcons at home by the score of 37-3 and covered the 12.5-point spread that the oddsmakers made. For the season, the Bucs are 9-5 straight up and against the spread, while they are 3-4 on the road both straight up and against the number. The Bucs are scoring on average 20.9 points per game, while allowing 15.6 points per contest. The author cautions betting on the Bucs in this game, for the team might decide to simply rest its players for the postseason. The San Francisco 49ers have been an awful team this year. They are 4-10 straight up and against the number this year, while going 2-5 straight up and against the number at home. They are coming off a fluke win over the Cincinnati Bengals last Saturday as 8.5 point underdogs, winning the game by the score of 20-13. Quarterback Shaun Hill, a third string player, will take the reigns and will lead the depleted 49ers squad into the game this Sunday. The author sees a very low scoring game in which both teams will be conservative with the ball. The Buccaneers will not be entirely motivated for this contest, and with the 49ers inept offense, the under will be a good bet to consider. The author suggest taking the home team and the under for the contest. Game prediction: 10-6 San Francisco. |
