Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriotsby Kris Lazaro 12/23/07 The cyborg New England Patriots host the ‘happy’ Miami Dolphins this Sunday in a game in which the author feels the spread is too low. The Dolphins are no longer the ‘winless’ Miami Dolphins as they miraculously beat the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. Oddsmakers have made the Patriots an opening 20-point home favorite, but betting action has pushed the current line to Patriots –22. The 2007 Miami Dolphins have finally won a game. Last Sunday, they won on an overtime touchdown score against the pathetic Baltimore Ravens in a game where the Ravens should have claimed the victory. Missed field goals and some unluckiness contributed to the Ravens’ demise, and to the chagrin of their head coach. Nonetheless, the Dolphins felt like they had won the Superbowl—which leads to the author’s assumption that this Sunday’s game will not be on the radar of the Miami players. Miami is now 1-13 on the season and 4-7-3 against the spread. On the road they are still winless at 0-7 and 2-3-2 against the number. The amazing New England Patriots boast a spotless 14-0 record and an outstanding 10-4-0 record against the spread. They are chasing not only the 1972 Miami Dolphins but are also chasing history. Their margins of victory this season have been rather impressive, even though their recent games suggest otherwise. The author believes that this specific game will be a cakewalk for stud quarterback Tom Brady and company. Warm weather teams usually fare horrendous during the month of December and with the Dolphins winning their ‘Superbowl’ last Sunday, the author feels that this game will be a blowout from the outset. The Patriots and their relentless offense will pour on the points in this contest, with the Patriots winning this game handily. Game prediction: 49-0 New England. |
