Baltimore Ravens vs. Seattle Seahawksby Kris Lazaro 12/23/07 The Seattle Seahawks host the struggling Baltimore Ravens this Sunday at QWEST field in a matchup that should favor the Seahawks rather soundly. Oddsmakers opened the line at Seattle –9.5, but with heavy betting action, the line has shot up to 12 points at some sportsbooks. The Baltimore Ravens have been horrendous on the road this season. They are 1-6 away from home and have failed to cover any of them thus far this season. The Ravens are 4-10 straight up and a pathetic 2-12 against the number. They also have the dubious honor of being the team that gave the once winless Miami Dolphins their first regular season win last Sunday (the Ravens had a good chance to win the game but a missed field goal in the end of regulation forced overtime—eventually succumbing to the Dolphins on the long and winning touchdown pass). Defensively, the Ravens are no longer a threat, as they are on average giving up 24.0 points a game. The Seattle Seahawks are returning from a trip to Carolina that they would rather not remember (a game that they lost 13-10 as 7 point road favorites). For the season, the Seahawks are 9-5 straight up and 8-6 against the spread. At home they are 6-1 straight up and 5-2 against the spread. Seattle will surely try to win this game even though they have already clinched their division. Momentum is huge in sports and a losing streak to end the season will have bad repercussions to such a team. The author sees a game in which the Seahawks will dominate the Ravens. Loud QWEST field will make it difficult for the Ravens to do anything on offense, with audibles being too load to hear. Game Prediction: Seahawks in a rout. |
