The Philadelphia Eagles will try to avenge an earlier loss to the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday as they go into Texas Stadium as hefty 10 point underdogs. The Eagles lost 38-17 last November in Philadelphia. For this match up, the oddsmakers have pegged the outstanding Dallas Cowboys a heavy favorite, a line that is justified in the author’s mind.
The Eagles come into this contest losing its last 3 games. Most recently, they dropped their last game against the upstart New York Giants by the score of 16-13. Although at home, the Eagles could not manage to upset the Giants and fell to them eventually. The Eagles will have to fare much better this Sunday as they face a solid ball club in Dallas. Philadelphia is 5-8 straight up and 6-7 against the number. Away from home they are 3-3, but a surprising 4-2 ATS. In terms of scoring, they are slightly better offensively as opposed to their defensive unit. The offense is averaging 20.8 points per game, while the defensive unit is allowing 20.2 points per contest.
The surprising Dallas Cowboys are a team on a mission. They are 12-1 for the season and 9-4 against the spread. The lone loss came against New England. At home, Dallas is 6-1 straight up and 5-2 against the number. Quarterback Tony Romo has been the center of Dallas’ success, and head coach Wade Phillips is surely to blame for all of their success this year. The Cowboys continue to roll this season, as they are 9-1 in their last 10 games.
The author sees a game where there will be a lot of scoring opportunities. Since these two teams know each other quite well, there will certainly be turnovers that will be capitalized into points. Philadelphia makes the game interesting for the first 3 quarters of the game, but Dallas’ size and class will outlast Philly in the end. Dallas wins this going away.
Game prediction: 38-24 Dallas.
