The New England Patriots reign of terror started because of some ‘film’ that surfaced after their first game of the season against the New York Jets. This will be the second game of the season that these two teams will meet. Oddsmakers originally pegged the Patriots a hefty 25 point favorite against this lowly Jets team, but heavy action has pushed the line all the way down to 21 points.
The Jets have been absolutely putrid this year, going 3-10 straight up and 4-8-1 against the spread. They are 1-5 straight up and 2-4 against the spread and 4-7 against the spread on grass. Like most bad teams in the NFL, they the Jets have been horrendous on dense, allowing 24.2 points per game and 350.2 yards a game. On the road, they allow 26.2 points per game and 317.8 yards per game. The Jets’ weakness is unfortunately the Patriots’ strength.
The Patriots come into this contest after blowing the crap out of the Steelers last Sunday, by the score of 34-13 as 10.5 point favorites. Superstar quarterback Tom Brady and his handful of henchmen look to defend their perfect season this Sunday as they hope to punish the Jets for squealing on them earlier in the season. Historically, New England has gone 8-1-1 against the lowly Jets. The author sees a complete blowout from the outset of this game. Although the total has dropped ten points due to possible inclement weather (from 52 to 42 points), the author feels that New England will still get their points. Anger and emotion will combine in what should be a nasty game in Foxborough this Sunday.
Patriots score quickly and often against this pathetic Jets defensive unit. A wire to wire lead will convert to an easy cover for the upstanding and home standing Patriots.
Game prediction: 45-0 New England.
