The ageless Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre looks to continue his legend as he visits the St. Louis Rams this Sunday as an opening 11 point favorite. Heavy betting action has moved the line down to 7.5 points in some books, while others have had the line steady at 9 points at the time of writing.
Green Bay has been absolutely phenomenal this season, going 11-2 straight up and 10-2-1 against the spread. On the road away from Green Bay, they are 5-1 straight up, scoring on average 29 points, 408.7 yards, and going 5-1 against the number. Behind Favre’s golden arm, the Packers have seen a resurgence in their offense, even without a solid running game. The author predicts this team to go deep into the playoffs, even potentially challenging the Patriots in the Superbowl.
The St. Louis Rams have woken up, since stringing together a bunch of losses in the beginning of the season. They are coming off a 19-10 loss to the Cincinati Bengals last Sunday as 10 point underdogs. Though they are 3-7 in their last 10 games, they are 3-2 and 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games. At home, the Rams have gone 1-5 straight up and 2-4 ATS. Offensively, the Rams, behind quarterback Marc Bulger are averaging 15.8 points per game and 295.8 yards of total offense.
The author sees another classic Brett Favre performance. Even though the line has gone to roughly 3 points due to heavy betting, one cannot deny Favre this year. He is absolutely amazing and will again tear another mediocre secondary in the Rams. Green Bay in yet another convincing victory. The Packers and the Rams have a close game in the first half, but the experience and class of the Packers will shine through in the second half. The Packers score the last 4 touchdowns of the game.
Game prediction: 46-14 Green Bay.
