The Buffalo Bills look to rebuild for next season as they face the playoff minded Cleveland Browns this Sunday. Oddsmakers have made the home team an opening 6.5 point favorite over the young Bills.
Buffalo is statistically out of the division, but may have an outside chance of capturing the wild card if a lot of other things fall into place. The Bills are 7-3 in its last 10 games, going 7-2-1 during that stretch. They are 7-6 straight up for the season, 8-4-1 against the spread. On the road, they are a measly 3-3 straight up and 2-4 ATS. Offensively, they are scoring 17.1 points per game and allow on average 22.4 points per game. Buffalo will look to its defense this Sunday, as this unit will determine the winner of this matchup.
The surprising Cleveland Browns look to their march into the playoffs as they try to defend their home field. They are 8-5 on the season, and an amazing 10-3 against the number. At home they are 5-1 straight up and 5-1 ATS; on a side note, they are 7-3 on grass. Led by quarterback Derek Anderson, the Browns have been amazing on offense. They are averaging 27.7 points per game and 352.2 yards per game. Their strength this year has definitely come behind the arm of their main signal caller. Surprisingly, they are averaging 7.1 yards per attempt and have become one of the league’s offensive powerhouses.
The author sees a fun game to watch, as the Bills will try to answer the Browns offensive attack. Cleveland will control the tempo of the game, but will ultimately win this in a shootout. The side for the game is a bit too hard to call, but the total is perhaps easier to predict. While the line was set at a hefty 47, money has driven the line all the way down to 39 points (perhaps due to inclement weather). The author still predicts and endorses a play on the over.
Game prediction: 42-35 Cleveland.
