The New York Giants face divisional rival Dallas Cowboys this Sunday in the last of the 4-second round NFL playoff games and the author cannot wait for this game. Oddsmakers made the Cowboys and opening 7.5 point home favorite with the line holding steady at the time of writing.
The Giants are coming off a convincing victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday, as they beat the Bucs by the score of 24-14 and covering the 3 point road underdog spread. Quarterback Eli Manning led his troops last Sunday and will hope to lead his troops into victory this Sunday as he faces a Dallas team in disarray. On the season, the Giants are 11-6 straight up and against the number. On the road, these Giants have been amazing, going 7-1 straight up and against the spread. If the Giants can move the ball against these Cowboys, then an upset will certainly be in the cards for this squad.
Even though Dallas has been consistently the ‘best’ NFC team this year, the Cowboy’s inability to score in its last few games has this handicapper worried. Over their last 3 games, the Cowboys have been averaging 10.7 points per game, a fact that is quite negative during the playoffs. The defense is also in peril, as they are giving up 27, 13, and 10 points in their last outings. Momentum is huge in the NFL playoffs, and the author feels that the Cowboys need something to spark their team. With wide-out Terrell Owens still not 100 percent and with quarterback Tony Romo now questioning his accuracy, the Cowboys need a little luck in fulfilling their role as the NFC’s best bet to beat the AFC this year.
The game is looking like a defensive struggle, where the points will matter quite significantly. Take the points in this one and enjoy a solid playoff game pitting two bitter divisional rivals.
