NFC Week 1 Part Two

Shut outs, big wins, new players, and “rebuilding” were all themes of the NFC in week one of the NFL season. There were rejoicing fans and crying fans just alike. There were some upsets and some expected wins. One thing is for sure; it was an interesting opening week for the upcoming NFL season!

The Philadelphia Eagles looked good in the opening week against the Houston Texans. It was exactly what the team needed, after having a difficult time last year. The team looked great, with quarterback Donovan McNabb leading the pack. They have confidence and experience and are expected to be great contenders this year. Receiver Donte Stallworth had an excellent showing. The real test will be with their second game against the New York Giants however. That is where they will show if they are ready to be back at the top or not.

Another interesting game occurred between the Seahawks and the Detroit Lions. The Lions came out with a loss, but the inspiring thing is that the actually game the division champs a run for their money. In fact, the Lion’s defense was able to hold off the Seattle Seahawks offense and didn’t allow them to score. So, although they lost, they showed great possibility, which is sometimes what a team needs. The Lions are confident they will win their second week game. But they will have a lot to prove overall.

The first week of the NFC was one that will set the stage for the rest of the season, no doubt.
